Benfica have withdrawn from the race to sign Stije Resink, and the midfielder is now expected to remain at Groningen at least until the end of the current transfer window.
According to reports, the Portuguese club decided not to move forward with negotiations, cooling their interest in the Dutch player. As a result, Groningen are increasingly confident that Resink will stay at the club beyond January.
The midfielder had attracted attention thanks to his solid performances this season, but with Benfica stepping aside, a winter transfer now appears unlikely.
